Welcome to the Kwalee family, Tictales!

Nobody in the games industry has announced any acquisitions lately, right? Phew, okay! We’re thrilled to announce the first acquisition in our 10-year run, with Tictales joining the Kwalee family as a casual games partner.

Tictales has specialised in developing emotionally engaging casual narrative games for mobile players since its formation in 2015, including the popular Perfume of Love. Based in France, Tictales adds yet another international location to the Kwalee family, joining our studios in Leamington Spa, Bangalore and Beijing. Including all our global remote team members, we’re now spread across 18 countries.

Tictales excels in creating compelling characters and absorbing universes for its story-driven games, with an extremely engaged community. With a team of just six people, Tictales’ games have accrued more than 6 million installs and have been played for over 350 million hours.

This acquisition is part of our plans to expand into developing and publishing casual mobile games, to build upon our proven expertise in hypercasual. With Tictales’ portfolio and Kwalee’s world-class marketing expertise, we can pool our efforts to build something even stronger together!

Crucially, Tictales will retain its creative independence after this deal while benefiting from our expertise in publishing and marketing.

Here’s what our CEO David Darling had to say:

“It’s a proud moment for us to make Kwalee’s first acquisition, and Tictales is the perfect partner. With their successful track record of casual mobile games and ability to tell a compelling story through their games, their ambitions match our own and we’re looking forward to building collective success.”

So what does this mean for Tictales? The studio’s Sales Manager and Co-Founder Christophe Chocho said:

“We have been committed since day one to creating amazing mobile fiction for our audience and I’m very proud of all the team members of Tictales for this milestone. The long-term vision of Tictales is to bring bigger franchises to the world, with our production capacity increasing and new talents joining our team. We and Kwalee share the same philosophy about high-quality games and we cannot wait to show our exciting new projects to the world.”
